    Description

    T
his 1/1000 [.031] Troy ounce 24 karat pure [0.999 fine] 2021 Cameroon "Rhino" gold note is legal tender currency [referred to as a "coin"] with a face value of 100 Franc CFA [referring to "Franc of the Financial Community of Africa"]. Like all legal tender currency, this gold note does not record the minter of the note, which is Valaurum, Inc., of Portland, Oregon, manufacturer of the Aurum. With techniques invented by computer chip makers, Valaurum, Inc., has managed to atomize gold and spray layers of the finely measured precious metal between substrates of polyester. The resulting note is durable and attractive with a full spectrum of color on both sides. A limit of 10,000 of these
    Proof like
100 Franc CFA notes were authorized by the Government of Cameroon, its official State National Seal stamped on the left side of the Obverse alongside a black rhinoceros, dominating the scene with its horn and ears forming a convenient gap for a large five-sided star. Shades of red and green, colors reflected on the Cameroonian National Flag, frame the entire note. The Reverse of the "Rhino" Cameroon note depicts a larger herd of rhinos gathered on the Savanna around an acacia tree, grazing and avoiding the mid-day sun. Under the Obverse image of the rhino is its official Latin "name,"
    Diceros bicornis.
The black rhinoceros is listed as a critically endangered species that has seen its numbers dwindle in recent centuries, largely due to poaching and loss of habitat. The western black rhino species that inhabited what is now known as Cameroon was actually declared extinct in 2011. Today there are an estimated 5,500 rhinos in the wild on the African continent. This "Rhino" Cameroon Gold Note is secured in an extra-thick bill sleeve, which is attached to the inside of a Golden Life Card with its "mini-bio" of the note [see photo]. Also included is a colorfully designed envelope suitable for storing the note or gifting it.  A unique ID serial number is printed on the Obverse lower left, with the assay detail of weight [ONE THOUSANDTHS TROY OUNCE GOLD]; and on the Reverse top right the purity ["OR PUR" and under that, "PURE GOLD"]. On the Reverse are the words, "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN." A Certificate of Authenticity is included with the Note which reads, "
The authority of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Cameroon certifies that this Gold Aurum is legal tender of the Republic of Cameroon. It is guaranteed by the producer to match the standards of fineness and weight."
