Face: Lady Fortitudine — Latin for Fortitude — depicted as Nike, the Greek winged goddess. The theme represents virtue over vice, and she is shown blowing a trumpet of triumph. She is also wearing a laurel wreath and holding a palm leaf in her left hand in a symbol of triumph. The background features Red Rock Canyon, the state’s first National Conservation Area. At the bottom one can see a tortoise, the state reptile of Nevada. Pouncing on the tortoise is a Bobcat to symbolize overcoming vices. Nestled near them is a sagebrush, the state flower of Nevada.
