Description
Two R C Gorman ceraminc pieces, hand signed and numbered..Rudolph Carl Gorman (July 26, 1931 – November 3, 2005) was a Native American artist of the Navajo Nation. Referred to as "the Picasso of American Indian artists" by The New York Times, his paintings are primarily of Native American women and characterized by fluid forms and vibrant colors, though he also worked in sculpture, ceramics, and stone lithography. He was also an avid lover of cuisine, authoring four cookbooks, (with accompanying drawings) called Nudes and Food.
These two ceramic pieces are more likely to be found in his cookbook, although you can definitely see the fluid motion in the chili peppers. Each plate measures 10.5 x 7”. Unfortunately each plate has a small chip. It does not affect his art, and depending on how they are displayed may show. Each print is hand signed on the front, and again on the back with his company, the year produced and title. Both pieces are 45/100 produced.
